On the 20th of November 2011 my nephew and his girlfriend left Grahamstown on an epic bike ride to Windhoek. This ride covered more than 2000 km's, over three countries in 20 days. This is that story. Grahamstown, Bedford, Cradock, Middelburg, Hanover, Phillipstown, Orania, Hopetown, Kimberley, Warrenton, Vryburg, Ganyesa, Bray, Werda, Khakhea, Bulukubalo, Morwametsi, Kang, Thootsa, Buitepos, Gobabis, Witvlei, Seeis, Windhoek!

ReplyDeleteToday in South Africa is BLACK TUESDAY
ReplyDeleteMake yourself heard. Today, 22 November 2011, marks an important moment for our democracy. After years of back and forth the Protection of Information Bill came before Parliament. The National Assembly has made significant changes to the Bill since its early formulations.
The Bill in its current formulation is open to abuse and holds the potential to limit the flow of information in our society. Across the board media owners and editors have expressed their opposition to the Bill. Prominent South Africans including Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Nobel Prize winner Nadine Gordimer, Former Ministers Ronnie Kasrils and Jay Naidoo amongst others have also expressed their opposition.
And it was approved in Parliament
