  4. Today in South Africa is BLACK TUESDAY

Make yourself heard. Today, 22 November 2011, marks an important moment for our democracy. After years of back and forth the Protection of Information Bill came before Parliament. The National Assembly has made significant changes to the Bill since its early formulations.

The Bill in its current formulation is open to abuse and holds the potential to limit the flow of information in our society. Across the board media owners and editors have expressed their opposition to the Bill. Prominent South Africans including Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Nobel Prize winner Nadine Gordimer, Former Ministers Ronnie Kasrils and Jay Naidoo amongst others have also expressed their opposition.

And it was approved in Parliament
